Isn’t love enough?

She slammed the door on his face,
He left in anger,
It was much more than a lover’s quarrel.
Endless conversations on the phone,
Boundless amount of moments,
Countless memories,
First times with each other.
They were always there for one another,
Through thick and thin.
Little did they know,
How nourishing each day was,
For their love,
Like a Summer day,
Whose winds jiggle the lovely bud.
I ask you,
Isn’t love enough?
Isn’t it enough to come back,
And bend the knee,
To destroy the reign of pride.
Unaffected by time and grief,
So pure it is,
That each one is submitted to its everlasting power.
Love for not beauty and desire,
But for dancing of the souls,
For they are beautiful when together,
And miserable otherwise.

My best friend once told me in 9th Grade as we were discussing, amidst the chaos of high school drama, about true love. She was more matured then than I ever could be. She told me, “Love is a very complicated concept. And that it requires sacrifices and compromises. Love is the highest order of affection one can have.” Since then, it stuck with me. Love above all else. Always.
